'Google search console' or 'google webmasters tools' is a basic toolkit used by webmasters for search engine optimization. Google search console is also a platform for webmaster to communicate with google about their webpage and vice versa. That's why google call google search console as mock point.

Even though you are not using google webmaster tools, still google will crawl your pages. But if you want to do a control SEO, you must use google search console. For example, if you want to make your website only visible to a particular country, you can set it on settings in google search console.

You can verify your website on google by 5 methods.


1) by downloading a html file from google console and upload it on your website

2) by adding html metatag method

3) can verify by using Google analytics

4) can verify using Google tag manager

5) can verify by logging in to your domain provider and entering details.

When we search a topic on Google, we will get a lot of results. 80% of the users click on first result or nearby results. That means if we are running a website and we need more traffic, our webpage must be shown on top of the search result. For that we have to do a practice on our website called On page optimization. On Page Optimization is an art of work done on a webpage to achieve top rank in google search results, when the user search about our webpage topic.

1. Title Optimization.


Title is the main factor of On page Optimization. Try to write title in 55- 60 characters including space. Moreover pixel width matters more. Try to set title width within 512 pixel. Our title must be that much beautiful and related to our page content, so visitors will attract to our page. Try to give focusing word as title. Our title should be meaningful and unique. Writing title in capital letters is important. Google Spider will never give forgiveness for spelling mistake and grammar mistakes.

Snippet.

Organic search result we see, when we type a topic and click on search is known as Snippet. Snippet contains URL, title, and description.


2. Meta Description Optimization.



The meta tag description must be written within 155-160 characters for webpage and for blogs the character must be write within 155 characters.








3. Content Optimization

Content is the main part of a website. Content can be written text, images, charts, videos, etc. The main content section of a webpage is HTML body section. Other than main title, H1 (Heading 1), H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6 can be added in content portion. In case of absence of main title, google shows H1 in search result.

4. Anchor Text Optimization.

Anchor text are normal text on content portion which is loaded with hyperlink added text. Adding anchor text on webpage will helps to boost Google's crawling bot.

5. Keyword Optimization.

Try to add the focusing keyword on content portion atleast 3 times. Always write your content in simple english. Researches says users like simple english more than heavy language.


6.Image Optimization.


Google can't recognize any images by its own. google understands image by reading "alt tags" and "image title tags" attached to it by webmaster.

Google Algorithm Changes



Google shows results to their customers according to the page rank of website. For getting better page results, Webmasters always tries to do malpractices on their websites. Due to increased malpractices of webmasters, Google started to introduced an algorithm in 2011 on their programs to find good quality content to give genuine results to their customers. And Google always tries to update and introduce new algorithms on time basis.


Lets look up some important Google algorithms.

1) Panda Updation (February, 2011)

Panda Updation is the main updation made by google for catching good quality results. Panda Updation is the google algorithm updation based on content spamming. Content spamming includes malpractices like content duplication, spelling mistakes, content spinning, automated content, thin pages, etc..

Panda 4.0, the panda updation came on May 2014 is the best Panda updation till now.



2) Penguin Updation (April 2012)



Penguin Updation is the updation based on link spamming. selling and buying of link, link exchange, link farming, link scheme, content spamming, spamming directory, over guest blogging, wiki spamming, etc..


Google started real-time punishment by introducing Penguin 4.0 which came on September 2016.



3) Humming Bird Updation (August 2013)



In this updation, Google started to show some part of the content of website on the search result page itself. After this updation Google, starts to give deep information to their customers.


4) Pigeon Updation ( July 2014)



Updation based on local search engine optimization.


5) Mobilegeddon Updation (April 2015)


Updation based on mobile friendly website. Webmasters forced to do some steps to make their website mobile friendly. Text is readable without tapping or zooming, no horizontal scrolling, tap target space properly, mobile view of web page automatically avoid unplayable content, etc are some steps to become top in page ranking.



6) Parked domain Updation 

Many webmasters purchase domains similar to their main domain and publish it without working on it. When users search this non quality domains shows on results. This was a big issue for google. Google decided to stop this by releasing parked domain updation.

7) Pirate updation (August 2012)

Updation based on piracy policy.  After pirate updation, website owners got option for sending complaint to DCMA.


8) EMD Updation (September 2012)

EMD stands for Exact Match Domain. If webmasters buy domains similar to his main website domain and not updating it with quality content, google will remove it from page ranking.

9)  Possum Updation (September 2016)

Updation based on location. For example if a user search for restaurant, google gives the list of restaurant near to the searching person.

10) Medic Updation (August 2018)

Updation for on Health and Wellness site.

History of SEO

The world's biggest search engine giant- Google, was the final year college project of Larry Page.Later Larry page and his college Gergey Bin worked on that project and introduced the finished product- "Google" on 1991.
